In an effort to improve public health services in southern Honduras, Fundesur has delivered a new tuberculosis testing booth at the Primary Health Care Unit (UAPS) San Pedro Sur “Quintín Soriano.” This center, which serves more than 7,500 people, now has a proper, equipped space to care for tuberculosis patients after the recent relocation of this service from the region’s main hospital.
The 3x3 meter booth is designed to meet the necessary standards for the safe and efficient care of patients. With an investment of over L. 96,487, the structure includes a metal door, three glass windows with railings, false ceiling, three electrical outlets, and a sink, ensuring that medical staff have the proper conditions to perform tests and provide care to those in need.
This new booth will improve the management of tuberculosis in a region that handles between 400 and 450 consultations per month at the UAPS. The significance of this project lies not only in its infrastructure but also in its impact on local public health, as it facilitates access to accurate diagnoses and early treatment of a disease that, without proper control, can be highly contagious.
With this delivery, Fundesur reaffirms its commitment to strengthening healthcare services in the country’s most vulnerable areas, contributing to the ongoing improvement of health infrastructure and the fight against diseases that affect rural communities.
