Don Pantaleón and Doña María: a reminder of why we exist
Mr. Pantaleón and Mrs. María: a reminder of why we existIn the community of La Cuchilla, Namasigüe, live Mr. Pantaleón Carrasco (90 years old) and Mrs. María de la Cruz Suárez (80 years old). At their age, taking care of their health has become a constant challenge.
Mr. Pantaleón needs medication for blood pressure and his heart —Tesinol and Visioblock— while Doña María depends on Iltux to control her hypertension. These are vital treatments, yet costly and difficult to obtain, especially for older adults in rural areas.
Thanks to FUNDESUR’s work, today they both receive these medications free of charge through our community health centers. They also receive free medical care, which provides not only physical relief, but also emotional and economic peace of mind.
When access to health depends on one’s wallet, many are left behind. At FUNDESUR, we work so that this does not happen. The story of Don Pantaleón and Doña María reminds us once again of the reason that drives us: bringing hope and dignity to every family in southern Honduras.

A healthy smile begins with education
In the community of La Criba, Valle, 63 children participated in a special session of our Construyendo Sonrisas(Building Smiles) program. During the activity, they learned about the importance of oral hygiene, practiced the proper brushing technique, and learned how to use dental floss correctly.
These lessons go far beyond the classroom: childhood dental education not only prevents disease but also builds the foundation for a healthier, fuller, and safer life.
With every session, we reaffirm our conviction that a healthy smile is synonymous with a happy childhood.

This delivery, valued at more than L 295,000, ensures that entire families can continue their treatments on time. The medicines include:
Antihypertensives
Hypoglycemics
Antineuritics
Antihistamines
Antithyroid drugs
Antibiotics
Analgesics
Anti-inflammatories
Each box represents more than just medical supplies: it means relief, hope, and the assurance that thousands of people will have the opportunity to live a better quality of life.
At FUNDESUR, we remain steadfast in our commitment to bringing healthcare closer to those who need it most, regardless of distance or obstacles.

A better future is already felt in Nueva Concepción, El Triunfo
The new community laboratory that FUNDESUR is building in Nueva Concepción, El Triunfo is progressing steadily and is already 80% complete. The construction includes modern sanitary facilities, a renovated roof, suspended ceilings, completed flooring, painted walls, and air conditioning in every area.
However, beyond the infrastructure, what is truly valuable is the hope that begins to bloom in the community. On the face of Doña Zulema shines the emotion of seeing how a long-awaited dream is becoming reality. For her, this space means health, opportunities, and a better quality of life for her children and grandchildren.
We are closer every day to inaugurating a new stage for the communities that will be served by this laboratory—a place that will mark a before and after in healthcare access in southern Honduras.

A firm step toward the health of Honduras
FUNDESUR reaffirms its commitment to life and health in the country by making an important donation of medicines to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. This contribution, valued at more than L 3 million, was made possible thanks to the eleventh container received through our partnership with MAP International.
Each box sent contains much more than medicine: it represents relief from pain, hope for thousands of families awaiting treatment, and a chance at life for those who need it most.
In a context where the need for medicine is urgent, this support is invaluable. It represents a firm step forward in the fight for health in Honduras and demonstrates that, by working together, we can extend a helping hand and transform lives.

Agua Caliente: a dream about to come true
For years, accessing water in the community of Agua Caliente, El Triunfo has been a daily struggle. Entire families walked long distances under the scorching sun, mothers carried water jugs heavier than their own strength, and children grew up with the hope that one day water would reach their doorsteps.
Today, that dream is closer than ever. The elevated water tank now stands tall as a symbol of hope, the pump house has been completed to safeguard the system, and the household distribution network is ready to bring clean water to every home.
Very soon, turning on a faucet will mean much more than access to water. It will be synonymous with dignity, health, and a better future for every family in Agua Caliente.
