We Delivered Over L 9.9 Million in Essential Medicines
At FUNDESUR, we continue to reaffirm our commitment to healthcare as a fundamental right, not a privilege. With great hope and a deep sense of responsibility, we are proud to announce the delivery of a significant donation of essential medicines to the Health Network of the municipality of San Lorenzo, in the department of Valle.
The donation, valued at over 9.9 million lempiras, aims to strengthen care in five health centers and the local hospital, directly benefiting more than 52,000 people living in this region of southern Honduras. These communities frequently face respiratory, chronic, and viral illnesses—many requiring immediate and sustained treatment.
In a national context where more than 50% of medical prescriptions cannot be filled due to the lack of supplies in the public system, this donation represents real, timely relief for thousands of families. It is a strong step toward equity in access to dignified treatment, especially in communities where the health system faces serious structural challenges.
The donation includes:
Oseltamivir: a key antiviral to reduce complications from influenza.
Carvedilol: essential for treating heart disease and managing blood pressure.
Estradiol: important for women’s gynecological health.
Children’s syrups and probiotics for women: for symptom relief and immune system support.
Acetaminophen: widely used to reduce fever and pain, especially in children and the elderly.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the sustained support of our international partners and close coordination with local health authorities, who helped identify and prioritize the most urgent needs.
We will continue working to ensure healthcare reaches every corner of southern Honduras—not just through medicine, but through hope, relief, and dignity.

Construction Advances on the New Clinical Laboratory in Nueva Concepción
We are pleased to share that remodeling has begun on the old health center in Nueva Concepción, El Triunfo, which will soon become a modern and fully equipped Clinical Laboratory. This project marks a major step forward in dignifying healthcare access for over 15,000 residents in southern Honduras.
For years, nearby communities have longed for this facility with hope and patience. Today, thanks to FUNDESUR’s efforts and the support of our partners, that dream is starting to become reality. Community members like Osiris, Carlos, Doña Lidia, and Lesly have already witnessed the early progress of the transformation with visible excitement.
This new laboratory not only represents an infrastructure upgrade—it will significantly improve access to reliable and timely diagnostic services. Once complete, it will offer specialized tests in clinical biochemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis, and parasitology, allowing patients to get critical lab work done without traveling long distances.
In a region with deep disparities in health service access, this construction brings hope, reduces logistical burdens, and—most importantly—ensures higher quality care. Because health begins at home, and our mission is to bring it closer to those who need it most.
We will continue to share updates on this important project, which will undoubtedly transform primary care in the area.

Hope for Renal Patients: We Donate 1,000 Units of Erythropoietin to the Southern General Hospital
At FUNDESUR, we remain committed to saving lives where help is most needed. One of the most pressing health issues in southern Honduras is the silent rise of chronic kidney disease, which disproportionately affects young people and adults in rural communities—especially in the department of Choluteca. Many diagnosed patients lack the resources to access timely, adequate treatment, which severely threatens their health and recovery.
To respond to this urgent need, we’ve donated 1,000 units of Erythropoietin (Bioyetin) to the Southern General Hospital—an investment of more than L 125,000 in a medication that offers tangible hope for those facing this illness.
Erythropoietin is a critical medication for patients with chronic kidney disease. It stimulates the production of red blood cells and combats the anemia that many renal patients suffer from. Without it, dialysis treatments become less effective, and complications increase.
This donation is meant to relieve the burden on the hospital system and, most importantly, give vulnerable patients the opportunity to keep fighting for their health. Behind each vial lies a story, a family, a life that can now continue with a treatment that was once out of reach.
Our commitment remains firm: to deliver healthcare to the forgotten corners of the south, respond to critical needs, and provide dignity to those battling life-threatening conditions with courage and hope.

Llano Grande Prepares to Protect Its Water System
At FUNDESUR, we know that building a water system means more than just installing pipes and pumps—it means building leadership, sustainability, and local capacity. That’s exactly what we’re doing in Llano Grande, El Triunfo, where we’re working hand in hand with ADETRIUNF to lead a training process that will ensure the long-term sustainability of the local water project.
Beyond the physical infrastructure, Llano Grande is building a legal, organized community structure with empowered local leadership. As part of this effort, the Internal Regulations of the Water Management Board have already been approved—a key step for transparent and participatory governance.
This process also stands out for its inclusiveness: 57% of the participants in the training are women leaders, committed to the well-being of their communities. These women, alongside other board members, are learning everything from water conservation practices to the technical aspects of system maintenance and operations.
FUNDESUR’s technical support ensures that when the infrastructure is completed, the community will be fully prepared to manage it autonomously, responsibly, and sustainably.
Because water is not only protected with infrastructure—it’s protected with knowledge, participation, and leadership.

Coming Soon: A Clinical Laboratory for Las Acacias
At FUNDESUR, we believe access to quality, nearby medical services is a right—not a luxury. That’s why we’re excited to announce the start of construction on a Clinical Laboratory at the Las Acacias Health Center, in the municipality of Choluteca. This facility has been long awaited by over 16,000 residents, many of whom have had to travel far to get basic diagnostic tests.
This new laboratory is being made possible through a joint effort between FUNDESUR and the Choluteca Health Region, prioritizing preventive and diagnostic care in underserved communities.
The project will deliver a modern, fully equipped space for timely disease detection, significantly reducing wait times, travel costs, and health risks associated with late diagnosis.
In rural areas like Las Acacias, where transportation is limited, each extra mile to reach care can be a barrier. With this initiative, we aim to break those barriers and bring healthcare directly to those who need it most.
Because healthcare is also built through commitment, empathy, and action—and we know that a timely diagnosis can mean the difference between life and death.
Soon, Las Acacias will have a laboratory that is close, dignified, and equipped to save lives.

Leadership with Purpose: Community Development in Namasigüe
When communities organize, change becomes possible. With this belief, FUNDESUR—together with World Vision Honduras—is promoting a leadership training program aimed at strengthening the social fabric and fostering a culture of peace, participation, and development in the communities of Los Prados 1 and 2, in the municipality of Namasigüe.
Through the program “Leadership for Development with a Focus on a Culture of Peace and Improved Quality of Life,” local leaders—both women and men—are being equipped with the tools to diagnose community needs, plan solutions, and implement meaningful change.
The program is built on three fundamental pillars:
Promoting dialogue and critical reflection to build consensus and foster peaceful coexistence.
Encouraging active civic participation in decision-making and local governance.
Fostering solidarity, shared responsibility, and community development as foundations for lasting transformation.
In places where poverty, exclusion, and limited opportunities hinder growth, developing leaders with purpose becomes a powerful tool for change. Through this initiative, participants are not only identifying challenges—they’re building collective solutions rooted in rights, equity, and sustainability.
At FUNDESUR, we firmly believe in the power of people to create structural change. That’s why we will continue to promote spaces that strengthen community organization and help build a future for all.

326 Families Breathe Better:We Deliver the First Batch of Improved Cookstoves in Namasigüe
At FUNDESUR, we remain committed to sustainable solutions that improve health, the environment, and daily life for families in southern Honduras. In Namasigüe, we’ve taken a significant step forward by delivering the first batch of 2x3 improved cookstoves (ecofogones) of the year, directly benefiting 326 families in the communities of Tionostal, Los Prados 1, Los Prados 2, and El Obraje.
This milestone was made possible through a strategic alliance with Proyecto Mirador and strong community participation. The 2x3 stoves are designed to reduce firewood consumption and eliminate direct smoke exposure—a major health hazard for women and children in traditional kitchens.
Thanks to this joint effort, 326 homes now have safer, cleaner, and more dignified kitchens. Smoke no longer fills the air; mothers no longer suffer eye irritation, and children’s lungs are no longer damaged by soot.
Women like Leticia, María, Idis, Elvia, and Yuris are living testimonies of this project’s impact. For them, receiving an improved cookstove is not just a tool—it is a sign of care, health, and respect for their daily work. In their words, we hear gratitude; in their eyes, relief; and in their homes, hope.
This is just the beginning. We remain committed to building more cookstoves throughout the year, together with communities and partners who share our vision of a healthier, more just, and sustainable future.
Because with every ecofogón installed, a healthier, smoke-free life begins.
