Bringing Clean Water to the Community of Agua Caliente, El Triunfo

The 237 residents of Agua Caliente, in El Triunfo, are celebrating a long-awaited dream: having clean, reliable water in their homes. The new water system—built by FUNDESUR in close collaboration with the community—marks a historic milestone for families who for years faced water scarcity, long walks to distant sources, and daily challenges that affected their health and quality of life.

This project represents a total investment of L 1.9 million, covering the drilling of a deep well, the construction of a 25,000-liter elevated tank, the installation of the distribution network, and 70 household connections that now ensure consistent, safe access to clean water.

Throughout the project, FUNDESUR worked hand-in-hand with community leaders and local residents, who contributed labor and oversight, making this initiative a true shared effort. Today, the system is fully equipped with its installed pipeline, pumping station, and operational tank, directly benefiting 237 people who can now open a faucet and see clean water flowing into their homes for the very first time.

This accomplishment not only improves each family’s quality of life, but also strengthens community health, supports local development, and opens the door to new opportunities for a more dignified and prosperous future.

At FUNDESUR, we remain committed to bringing hope and sustainable solutions to the communities of southern Honduras. Agua Caliente stands as a reminder of what we can achieve when organizations and communities work together for the common good.

Supporting the Municipal Clinic for Older Adults

FUNDESUR recently delivered laboratory reagents and essential supplies valued at L 22,523.40 to the Municipal Clinic for Older Adults, strengthening its ability to provide medical care to approximately 400 patients who depend on timely diagnostic services.

Thanks to this contribution, the clinic can continue performing essential laboratory tests such as glucose, triglycerides, creatinine, glycated hemoglobin, uric acid, and complete hematology. These tests are critical for early detection of chronic conditions, proper disease monitoring, and improving the overall health and well-being of older adults in the community.

This donation reflects FUNDESUR’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable populations. By enhancing local medical services, we reaffirm our mission to stand beside those who need it most, ensuring dignified, accessible, and high-quality care for our older adult population.

New Restrooms, New Opportunities for Our Students

With an investment of more than L 135,000, FUNDESUR delivered a new school restroom module at the República de Alemania School in Altos de Santa Martha. This project represents a meaningful improvement for a community that, for many years, faced challenging conditions that limited students’ well-being.

For a long time, children at this school were forced to study without a dignified, safe, and hygienic space to meet their basic needs. This lack of adequate facilities impacted their health, comfort, and even their motivation to attend classes.

Today, thanks to the construction of the new restroom module, those challenges are now behind them. The school now has appropriate facilities that ensure hygiene, safety, and a more humane environment for every student. A dignified space enhances learning, strengthens self-esteem, and opens doors to better opportunities.

At FUNDESUR, we believe that when a school improves, the future of the entire community improves as well. That is why we continue building environments where every child can learn, grow, and dream without limits.

Healthcare That Reaches Where No One Else Does

FUNDESUR completed the final quarterly delivery of medications to the 10 rural health centers where we maintain permanent medical presence. These deliveries reaffirm our commitment to ensuring dignified, continuous, and high-quality healthcare for the thousands of families who rely on these centers for their daily well-being.

More than L 345,000 have been invested in essential medications, crucial for primary care in remote rural communities. These include analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, lipid-lowering agents, anticonvulsants, thyroid medications such as levothyroxine, hypoglycemic agents, treatments for sickle cell anemia such as Plaquenil and Hydroxyurea, as well as antihypertensive medications.

Each delivery represents far more than supplies—it is a promise kept. A promise of access, hope, and life for communities where distance, vulnerability, and limited resources make every dose matter.

At FUNDESUR, we remain committed to ensuring that healthcare reaches where no one else goes, strengthening rural services and building a more dignified future for the families of southern Honduras.

Supporting the Growth of Women Entrepreneurs

FUNDESUR visited the community of La Bonanza, Namasigüe, to train a group of women entrepreneurs who are part of Las Creativas, an initiative created to support them in starting, strengthening, and expanding their businesses.

During this training session, we introduced participants to the basic use of social media, providing practical tools to help them promote their products, enhance their digital presence, and use platforms such as Facebook, WhatsApp Business, and Instagram to boost the visibility and growth of their businesses.

These workshops strengthen the skills of women who work every day—with dedication and resilience—to build a dignified livelihood for their families. At FUNDESUR, we firmly believe in the transformative power of women-led entrepreneurship, and we will continue supporting, training, and creating opportunities so more women can move forward, grow, and reach their full potential.

New Sanitary Facilities, New Future

With an investment of L 131,390, FUNDESUR delivered new sanitary modules at Miguel Paz Barahona School in Azacualpa, El Triunfo. This project restores the dignity, safety, and essential conditions that students need to thrive in their learning environment.

For years, the old sanitary facility was deteriorated and collapsed, making it impossible to use. This situation negatively impacted the health, comfort, and overall well-being of both students and teachers.

Today, that chapter is behind them. Thanks to this initiative, students and staff now have clean, safe, and fully functional facilities that improve daily well-being and create a healthier, more supportive space for learning.

This achievement was made possible thanks to the commitment of everyone who contributed to turning this project into reality. FUNDESUR extends its gratitude to all who believe in education and in strengthening our communities.
